If you want to speak a foreign language – Spanish or any other – you need to know the vocabulary. Of course nobody suggests you have to memorize the entire dictionary. That would be a stupid thing to do and pretty useless as well. All the Spanish words and phrases you have to know are those that are being regularly used. Here are 3 simple ways to learn the vocabulary:
Memorization
This old fashioned method is actually very effective. Just write down a set of words in the notebook and memorize them. When you think you know them, put the notebook aside for a couple of hours and check then if you still remember the words. Repeat this exercise every 3-4 hours for 3 days and you will surely memorize all the Spanish words and phrases in your notebook.
Exercise book
Pick up a book dedicated to practicing Spanish words and phrases. These kinds of books are usually full of great exercises which would make you use variety of words and phrases, ask you to translate them or use them in a correct form. If books are not your thing you can pick up language learning software which will automatically correct your answers and provide feedback.
Sticky notes
Stick a small piece of paper with Spanish word on everything around the house. The place will look messy but that’s a very effective way of learning Spanish words and phrases. Not only put simple words like chair or bed on the paper but the phrases like sit on a chair or lay in the bed. Once you learn those words and expressions replace the sticky note with a new one with another set of vocabulary. When you use an item try to thing about what this thing is called in Spanish and try to use the word in a context, for example by creating a sentence.
